Yesterday was my 4th surgery in 7.5 months. That routine is getting kind of old. We won't find out the results for about a week, but the Doctor's initial reaction was better this time. Some good news-seems like progress; some bad news-quite a bit of scar tissue developing from all the surgeries which made the last two procedures far more painful. Hope to be done with this road soon. We'll update again as we hear more.

2013 has not been an easy year on the medical front. Surgery for me in January, April and May. Michael actually had hernia surgery in February (he had to get in on all the fun!). Sure seems like we're trying to go under the knife every month in the year in 2013. Here's to hoping that will change in the near future, as we can both think of about a million things we'd rather be doing than hitting our out-of-pocket max for the medical insurance only halfway through the year!

For the few people interested in a health update, I had another surgery done mid-January. During the surgery, the doctor found more polyps (shouldn’t be there, especially not given the therapy that I’m on), so we knew immediately that the results wouldn’t be great. The week waiting on biopsy results was difficult – as it’s never fun to be hanging in the balance of how bad is the news going to be.

Thankfully, when the biopsy results came in, they showed some progress. Where I had previously been a 4/4 on the risk scale towards uterine cancer, I’ve now moved down to a 1-2/4 on the scale. Still not “normal,” still not cleared. But progress nonetheless (and the cancer risk dropped from 50-60% down to 1%, which is huge). From here, we do at least 3 more months of therapy, rinse, repeat (more procedures). Since I have gotten along so well with the medications (side effect central), more time on them is daunting but it’s what has to be done. We’re on an April/May timeline for the next procedure.
