The Goodrums

So this time it's Oklahoma for real. Sorry we've been remiss in updating. It has been a crazy couple weeks - complete with an ice storm in Austin, Michael coordinating special effects for our church's Christmas production (dry ice fog, a flying ballerina, and confetti cannons), fixing a broken starter motor in our Saturn (after 3 breakdowns), house hunting, Christmas parties, and more.

We arrived in Oklahoma late on Tuesday the 20th. We've had a great time hanging out with my family - although we have all really missed my sister, Kelly, who's in Peru. We hear she's having a great time in the Peruvian mountains though.

On Wednesday, we went downtown and went sledding on a ramp they set up in the ballpark here. I even went down backwards. Fun! My little sister, Teri, is an architecture major - so we also went around downtown Oklahoma City looking at the buildings. Michael loved that too. Afterwards, we went to a little park downtown that was decorated with Christmas lights.

On Thursday, we visited one of the pharmacists I work with - probably the best out there. All of our staff loves this guy. I was glad to get to introduce my mom to him - someone that will take good care of them if they ever need a compounding pharmacist. Later we went ice skating at an outdoor rink here. Fortunately, it hasn't been too cold - or we would have frozen to death! I haven't ice skated in years - so my mom and I used the buddy system and helped each other out. We made it the whole time without falling! Yay! After skating, we went to eat at a restaurant on Lake Hefner called Pearl's. We ate there last time we were in OKC. Michael got the tuna and LOVED it. He was able to savor it again. He was a happy camper...

On Friday, we went to the National Cowboy Museum. It was much more interesting than it sounds. My mom, sister Christy and I had a blast playing around in the kiddie displays and the mock western town they had. We have great pictures from that excursion! We took two cars to the museum and left my dad and Michael there when we were finished. They stayed until it closed. Meanwhile, my other sister, Teri, is working at a cute tea house over the break. After we finished the museum we went and had tea with Teri. They have fun hats that you can wear and everything. That evening after Teri got off of work, we went to Guthrie for dinner. Guthrie is the first capitol of Oklahoma (from the land rush) and is a cute historic town.

We've been busy doing touristy-type things. My mom keeps saying she feels like she's on vacation. I guess that is a fun part of moving. There are so many new things to do. We've been so busy that we will probably have that typical post-vacation exhaustion of needing a vacation from your vacation. :)
