Rita rolled through here on Saturday and Sunday, gracing us with over 4 inches of rain and several tornados. Our tornado sirens were going off all day. On Saturday, a funnel cloud passed right over the top of us. Wild weather!
Fortunately, we are doing just fine. Top winds from the thunderstorms were only about 40 mph - so no substantial damage. A few more trees in the area came down (probably trees already weakened by Katrina) but I don't think anyone in this area lost power.
Both Michael and I have family that was in the path of the storm. Michael's extended family in the Houston area is fine. Fortunately, they didn't have any major damage, as Houston escaped a direct hit. My parents moved from Houston in May, relocating to Oklahoma City. They had a full house this weekend in Oklahoma. They had a total of 12 in the house. Many of our south Louisiana family members are staying with them. All the Louisiana crew are safe and accounted for. Hopefully no more major storms for a while!

We live at the southwest corner of the lake (look for the white outline right above the word "Jackson.") Some local areas got as much as 14 inches of rain. Quite a dreary weekend.
