It's been quite the eventful October... and we haven't even reached Halloween.
Today, Denver got it's first snow - and it was quite a substantial one. The official count for our area isn't available yet but I would guess that we got somewhere between 8" to a foot of snow - although the average accumulation was probably only about 4-6" (the ground is still quite warm, given that it was 70 something yesterday, and it is melting most of the snow that lands on it). The snow in the front yard was at least a foot deep (it kept coming in the top of my snow boots).
We didn't bother to shovel the driveway since the temperatures are supposed to be in the 50s and 60s for the rest of the week. We figure it will melt off soon enough. We can save the shoveling muscles for later in the season.

It looks like a winter wonderland. So how hard is it to drive in the snow?
Driving in the snow really isn't that bad (so long as the snow's not too deep and your car doesn't high center, as happened to us last year in our saturn). There is actually traction on snow. You just have to go slow and take your time. Driving on ice is much worse.
Looks a little like what we saw on the south island NZ last week! Guess you "southerners" are getting nice and broken in to your new home! Wish we were there to throw some snowballs with you guys!
