Creative Twist on Wood

Posted by Jen |

As mentioned previously, we recently took a trip to Northern California to celebrate Anniversary #5. We spent a bit of chill time in the uber-cool city of San Francisco as bookends around a haul to see the California Redwoods.

San Francisco by night

We spent an abundant amount of time in the car over the weekend, but got to see a lot of variance in the countryside - not to mention the beauty of actually spending some time together, which has been a rarity of late. The road trip provided an ample amount of entertainment and bizarre sights:

Entertainment along our drive included:

  • A plethora of Prius' (and Suburu's - although the Subi's are not as plentiful in CA as they are in CO)

  • Cows under a palm tree (so much shade to be had)
  • Ubiquitous adopt-a-highway signs, including the segment of roadway adopted by Robin Williams
  • Compact car with about a dozen inner tubes tied to the top

  • "Metropolitan Boulevard" in the middle of nowhere
  • The Skunk Train in Willits (a lot going on in that town too...)

  • The Legend of Bigfoot

  • The "Park Host" at the beach - so fitting

  • An authentic hippie camp along the Avenue of the Giants scenic drive
A few samples of the trip pictures follow. See the full trip portfolio here.
